Artist's Statement

I was born with a silver halide in my mouth in 1974. My first camera was a Kodak disc camera that my parents gave me as a birthday present. At that time I was infatuated with lizards, snakes and various other reptiles and took pictures of them every chance I got. After one school field trip to the Marin Headlands, I had four or five of those Kodak discs sent in for processing. I received quite a lecture on how much it cost for all those photos, "And not even ONE is of a person!"

The Kodak disc is long gone, traded straight across for a Hasselblad. The lizards have become dinosaurs (classic automobiles, that is!) and at long last, I took a photo of a person. Once.
